Never go to the beach in June

just look at that...

*This post is dedicated to Guia, who scheduled a beach trip in the middle of monsoon season because "it's too hot to go to the beach in summer"*

"Never go to the beach in June," I thought to myself.

We were in Balabac, Palawan, which, according to  everything I've read on the internet, is supposed to be tropical paradise here on earth. Sitting on our little boat in the middle of Sulu Sea, this was a little hard to believe.  The water was choppy, the sky was grey-cast, and day was just overall dreary. Surely, this is not the promised land we traveled nine hours to see.

You could certainly see the place's potential, what with Punta Sebaring's unbelievably expansive white sand beach and sandbar, and the turquoise water that greeted your sight anywhere you looked. If only the sun would shine...

And what do you know, in the afternoon of our second day, it did---and the tropical paradise we all came to see was laid out in front of our eyes in all its glory.
