Sakura and Alcohol

When I visited Toyama last spring, I decided to go out late one night to try and take pictures and enjoy the lovely spring evening.

As I was walking along the sakura-lined Matsukawa, I heard this man loudly singing that famous Japanese folk song "Sakura."

"Must be drunk," I thought. After all, it's very "un-Japanese" to be singing loudly in public.

As I walked farther along, I heard another voice, this time a woman, singing the same song, albeit in a much softer manner now.

I was sure the man I heard earlier was just drunk. Hearing this lovely woman do the same made me wonder, though, if it was the alcohol that was doing the singing, or if this is just the effect of these beautiful and fragile flowers on the Japanese.
