Paris

One of the most vivid memories I have of our European trip was that of seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time.

We got off the train at Trocadero Station, crossed a few streets and walked to Placa du Trocadero. We came from the left side of the plaza, with our view blocked by the Chaillot National Theater.  Then we came to a clearing, and there it was, Paris' quintessential symbol.

I felt my heart beat faster.

That had got to be my favorite moment in Paris. Sure there were other equally lovely sites like Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe (side note: you must go up the Triomphe), but nothing is as special as the Eiffel.
